ABOUT DIPLOMA IN BROADCASTING & FILM

HOW DO I GET IN?

  • 3 Credits in SPM, IGCSE and grade C in English; OR
  • 3Bs in UEC and B6 in English; OR
  • Other qualifications recognised by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia
  • * Trial examinations/ forecast results are accepted

EXAMINATION STRUCTURE

The Diploma in Broadcasting & Film uses both coursework and examinations to evaluate student performance across practical and theoretical components:

Coursework
(Approx. 60%)

Includes creative and practical assignments such as film and video production projects, scriptwriting briefs, editing tasks, audio and visual exercises, portfolio work, client briefs, and other project‑based assessments that reflect real‑world media production practice.

Examinations
(Approx. 40%)

Covers theory‑based assessments including media studies principles, communication fundamentals, broadcast theory, and understanding of industry practices.

Some modules, especially those focused on practical production and real client projects, may be assessed entirely through project outcomes and performance‑based work without a separate written examination, allowing students to demonstrate applied skills and creative problem‑solving.

EXEMPTION AND PROGRESSION PATHWAY

Upon completing the Diploma in Broadcasting & Film, students may be eligible for exemptions or direct entry into undergraduate programmes based on prior qualifications.

Students with relevant academic or professional experience may apply for credit exemptions in foundational modules by submitting transcripts, course syllabuses, and certifications. Eligible qualifications may include:
