WLRC’s Valentine Project at Welfare Harapan Selesa Home

On 15th February 2025, the Women Legal Rights Club (WLRC) turned Valentine’s Day into something truly meaningful. As part of their Valentine Project, the club organized a visit to Welfare Harapan Selesa Home, a shelter for children, with the goal of bringing joy, warmth, and awareness to the young residents.
A Sexual Harassment Awareness Presentation
Though Valentine's Day is synonymous with chocolates and roses, WLRC did things differently. The group didn't merely want to make the kids feel special for a day; they wanted to provide them with information and confidence to live in the world safely.
The session covered:
- Recognising inappropriate behaviour,
- Understanding the importance of consent and personal boundaries, and
- Knowing when and how to seek help.
By breaking down these topics into clear and digestible lessons, WLRC empowered the children with knowledge that could protect them in the future.
Interactive Q&A Session: Encouraging Open Conversations
Education is most effective when it sparks dialogue, and WLRC made sure to create a safe space for the children to ask questions.
The Q&A session allowed them to:
- Share their thoughts, concerns, and experiences.
- Clarify doubts about their rights and safety.
- Learn through engaging discussions rather than just lectures.
By making the session interactive and approachable, WLRC encouraged the children to speak up and feel heard - a vital part of building confidence and self-awareness.
A Game of Charades: Learning Through Laughter
What better way to finish off the day than with a game of charades? This was not a mere fun activity; it was for bonding, for morale-boosting, and for hammering home the message of love and support.
Through laughter and teamwork, the kids:
- Learned the importance of expression and communication.
- Bonded with each other and the members of WLRC.
- Felt valued and encouraged in a heartwarming way.
A Day That Left a Lasting Impact
For the children, this wasn’t just another day - it was a day of learning, joy, and reassurance that they are supported and cared for. For WLRC, it was a reminder of the power of education, advocacy, and simple acts of kindness.
WLRC’s Valentine Project proved that love is more than just a word - it’s a responsibility. By combining compassion with education, they not only brought smiles to the children’s faces but also equipped them with valuable knowledge that will serve them in the years to come.
Here’s to more meaningful initiatives, more awareness, and more love that truly makes a difference.
