The BAC Mooting Society's Annual General Meeting
Another year means another new group of students taking over the BAC Mooting Society, ready to organise many new initiatives to familiarise BAC students with formal litigation while giving them the skills to speak out in front of a crowd.
To start the tenure, the BAC Mooting Society kicked it off with this year's AGM! The event kicked off with a lively moot skit, setting an engaging and interactive tone for the event. The skit was a creative take on the story of Robin Hood, had he been caught and tried for his crime of theft. It was certainly an entertaining demonstration of mooting principles, showcasing the dynamics of courtroom submissions while also being hilariously entertaining!
Following the skit, the session proceeded with a welcome address from the president and emcee, Charlotte Goh, further immersing participants in the activities. This also featured an introduction segment–"Meet the President and Committee," where participants were introduced to the executive committee. Some of the things mentioned by the committee were the objectives of the Mooting Society and the valuable skills members can develop. The committee also teased this year's NOVAL Moot Competition by getting the participants to vote on the field of law that will be covered.
Next was the “Voices of Experience,” a special guest talk featuring insights from current and ex-mooters Charlotte Chong Jia Xin (Final Year Student, University of Hertfordshire), Siti Nazatul Nadia (LLB Graduate from UOL (External Programme) and Rachel Leong Qi Rui (Year 1, UOL (External Program) who shared their personal journeys in the field of mooting and its benefits for growth.
The session came to an end with a group photo and light refreshments, providing ample networking opportunities for students to connect and build relationships within the community. Overall, the AGM was a vibrant and informative event, fostering enthusiasm for future activities in the BAC Mooting Society.
