TAKE ME TO THE DISCO!
Disco PART-sy Raises Funds to End Digital Poverty
Disco PARTS-ty, a 70s - 80s themed event, was held in conjunction with the MPU 3432 module (PARTS) in BACPAC on the 11th of November 2022 to help raise funds for the 1MillionDevices initiative under UPLIFT.
Mr Timothy and Mr Lawrence officiated the event with a speech and the party went into full swing. The event had a stream of live performances from the PARTS club, such as Kai Wen Sing Song and Sunset City. They sang songs from indie bands as well as their original music. They also snuck in their own rendition of 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' by Tears for Fears.
There were also live performances from the lecturers' band, 'The Brownies', who played classics such as 'Dancing Queen' by ABBA and 'I Want To Break Free' by Queen. The final act of the night was by The Trihertz who had a range of performances from singing to beatboxing.
After the performances, those who dressed up to the nines were recognised with the Best Dressed award which went to Joshua Choo and Brittney Looi. There was a final surprise flash mob from the MPU 3432 PARTS team where they danced to a mashup of songs from the 70s and 80s that ended with a big group dance to YMCA by Village People. This opened up the dance floor for everybody to boogie down to their heart's content. The reception of the event was outstanding with over a 100 people turning up to the event.
