BAC NOVAL Moot Court Competition 2024
A Journey of Excellence

The Novitius Adsertor Legis Moot Court Competition (NOVAL) 2024 was proudly organised by the BAC Mooting Society, offering first-time mooters and newcomers a platform to dive into the fascinating world of mooting.
Leading up to the grand finale in November 2024, participants embarked on an incredible journey of growth and discovery, showcasing the immense potential NOVAL holds in shaping the next generation of legal minds.
1.The Kick-off: Written Submission Workshop
The journey began with a Written Submission Workshop, an essential first step for the participants. This session saw an enthusiastic turnout, with new and returning mooters eager to refine their skills. Ms. Lavinia Kumaraendran, an accomplished litigator known for her persuasive legal submissions, led the workshop. Participants walked away with invaluable insights on crafting compelling arguments, a skill crucial for any aspiring litigator.
2. Building Confidence: Oral Submission Workshop
The Oral Submission Workshop followed soon after, offering mooters the chance to polish their advocacy skills. This time, they were joined by Mr. Arun Ganesh Bhoopalan, a seasoned litigator and former mooter, who shared his practical insights on effective oral arguments. His candid advice about handling the courtroom, engaging judges, and staying poised under pressure left the participants inspired and ready for the next stage of the competition.
3.Immersive Experience: Moot Simulation 2024
The Moot Simulation 2024 was one of the most anticipated events of this year's training. This simulation allowed participants to experience firsthand the dynamics of a live moot court session. Led by Mr. Julius, a BAC Law Lecturer, the simulation provided a realistic environment for our mooters to test their arguments, practice courtroom procedures, and engage with experienced professionals. The event culminated in a Q&A session, where students had the chance to ask about the intricacies of mooting and gain valuable feedback.
4. Bailiff Training: Ensuring Smooth Operation
Alongside the participants' rigorous preparations, the Bailiff Training Sessions played a crucial role in ensuring the competition's success. These sessions provided comprehensive guidance on essential responsibilities, including courtroom management, addressing emergencies, and mastering the flow of a moot trial. By the end of their training, the bailiffs were expertly equipped to support the competition, ensuring that every round proceeded seamlessly and efficiently.
NOVAL Day 1: The Preliminary Rounds
Day 1 of NOVAL 2024 was an action-packed start to the competition. With intense arguments and exceptional mooting skills on display, the Preliminary Rounds 1 and 2 set the stage for a thrilling competition. By the end of the day, the top 8 teams were selected to advance to the Quarter-Final Round, setting the tone for an even more intense Day 2.
NOVAL Day 2: The Semi-Finals and Beyond
The second day of NOVAL saw the competition intensify as they moved into the Semi-Final Rounds.
