Held on 22 November 2024, in Subang Jaya, this year’s awards saw IACT clinch an astounding 16 accolades, including the prestigious Idea of the Year Award and Student of the Year Award. The evening celebrated not just the talents of Malaysia’s finest creative students but also highlighted IACT College’s position as a powerhouse in nurturing the next generation of industry leaders.

The Kancil Awards, hosted by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As), is renowned as the pinnacle of creative recognition in Malaysia. With roots dating back to 1978, it celebrates innovation and excellence in advertising. The Student Kancil x sCooler Awards aim to extend this tradition by spotlighting the brightest young talents from Malaysia's top creative schools. The competition replicates the professional categories, challenging students to match the creativity and rigor of industry veterans.

In this fiercely competitive arena, IACT students demonstrated their ability to create impactful and innovative work across multiple mediums. Representing programmes such as the BA (Hons) in Advertising and Design, Diploma in Broadcasting and Film, and Diploma in Graphic Design, these students showcased projects that resonated deeply with the judges, earning them a spectacular haul of awards.

The Crown Jewels: "MATI ADAT" Takes the Lead

At the heart of IACT’s victory was the film "MATI ADAT", a collaborative masterpiece by Juliana Reza, Akmal Arief, Sarhvin Rakupathi, Vivian Lim, and Nicholas Ryan. This project not only bagged the coveted Idea of the Year Award but also earned the team the distinguished Student of the Year Award, underscoring its exceptional creative and technical brilliance. The film further secured:

Merit Award for Editing

A Showcase of Versatility Across Projects

The success of IACT College extended beyond a single film, with a diverse array of projects earning accolades:

"SAMSARA" by Hayden Chong Zi Peng received a Silver Award for Best Film: Video Content.
"MAK YONG BAYANG BERBISIK", a culturally rich film by a talented group of students, earned a Silver Award for Best Use of Cultural Insights and a Merit Award for Best Film.
"GUNFLOWERS", a visually striking piece, took home a Silver Award for Editing and multiple Merit Awards for Film Direction and Music in Film.
"SPOT THE REAL MONSTER", a CSR campaign by Sophie Tan, won a Bronze Award for Best Idea for Social Good.
"PLANTING THE SEEDS OF THE FUTURE", a documentary, garnered a Merit Award for Best Film: Video Content.
Additional Merit Awards went to projects like "SUMODOPON" for Music in Film and "THE CITYLIGHTS: KALI YUGA" for Film Direction.
