Semester 1

English Language

This module introduces you to the essential skills needed to succeed as a university student while helping you understand the value of transferable skills in the workplace.

Introduction to Digital Technology

This subject equips you with fundamental knowledge of computing, its integration into organisations, and information management, while developing essential communication and business skills for the field.

Critical Thinking Skills

This module will help you develop various critical thinking techniques and reasoning skills, enabling you to present your arguments effectively, respond to situations thoughtfully, and solve problems accurately.

Introduction to the English Legal System

This course introduces you to the structure and operation of the English legal system, including its court system, sources of law, legal reasoning methods (judicial precedent and statutory interpretation), judicial appointments, and the processes within its civil and criminal justice systems.

Semester 2

English for Academic Purposes

This module will help you develop essential communication and writing skills, along with appropriate vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension abilities, to support your success in English at the tertiary level. It will also familiarise you with the IELTS and MUET test environments.

Presentation Skills

This subject will introduce you to the art of delivering effective oral presentations in public, helping you build self-confidence, improve your speaking skills, and enhance your critical thinking abilities.

Introduction to Contract Law

This subject aims to introduce you to the key concepts of contract law. You will learn how to apply rules related to the formation of contracts, understand the impact of vitiating factors, and explore available remedies. It also encourages you to deepen your understanding of the substantive rules in contract law.

Practical Legal Skills

This module will provide you with essential knowledge and skills for your legal studies. You will explore key legal concepts, research methodologies, and develop an understanding of ethical values like honesty and integrity. You’ll also be introduced to drafting legal documents and learn how to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.

Semester 3

Entrepreneurship

This module gives you a glimpse into the world of entrepreneurship, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn the essential qualities needed to become an entrepreneur. You’ll also gain the skills and understanding of the processes involved in starting an enterprise.

Introduction to Criminal Law

This module will introduce you to legal concepts, rules, and the processes of criminal law, helping you understand its application and enforcement. You’ll explore the substantive rules in criminal proceedings, critically assess legal rules and institutions, and develop essential skills in communication, interpretation, reasoning, and analysis.

Introduction to Tort Law

This module will give you a solid understanding of the three main areas in tort law: trespass to land and person, private nuisance, and negligence.

Malaysian Legal System

This module introduces you to the legal system of Malaysia, covering its historical development, key legal sources, and the legal profession. You’ll gain a clear understanding of the historical background of Malaysia’s legal system and the basic principles that shape it.
