Semester 1
Mathematics
This course aims to build your confidence with mathematical concepts and relationships, while developing your ability to apply mathematical and statistical skills in various contexts, including problem-solving and abstract thinking. You will cover topics such as numbers, functions and polynomials, sequences and series, matrices, derivatives, integrals, basic statistics, and probability.
Essentials of Economics
This subject provides an overview of economics, introducing you to basic economic concepts, microeconomics, and macroeconomics. You’ll explore market fluctuations, consumer and producer behaviours, equilibrium, and how changes in market conditions influence decision-making.
Basic ICT
This module will help you gain basic knowledge of computer hardware and software, understand computer integration in organisations, manage IT trends, and develop essential communication and business skills in computing.
Written and Verbal English
You will develop knowledge and skills in vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. The use of technology is encouraged throughout the course to reinforce learning and support independent study.
Writing and Research Skills
This module prepares you for social sciences research, skills of scientific and academic writing, and different research methods. You will develop skills to understand and analyse texts. In addition, you will practice and develop paraphrasing and summarising skills.
Semester 2
Financial Accounting
This course provides you with a solid foundation in accounting, including basic concepts, bookkeeping, and financial reporting procedures applicable to business entities. You will learn about the accounting equation, double-entry system, journals, ledgers, and preparing financial statements for reporting purposes.
Introduction to Management
In this module, you will gain a basic understanding of the nature of management processes in business organisations, relating to the principles and theories of management, practices of Planning, Organising, Leading, and Controlling (POLC), organisational design and communication within business entities.
Introduction to Marketing
This module offers you an understanding of marketing concepts, functions, and roles within business organisations. You’ll be introduced to product development, pricing strategies, distribution, promotion, marketing communication, and basic internet marketing.
Introduction to Digital Transformation
This module introduces you to digital transformation, covering its fundamentals, innovations, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain, helping you stay competitive in the digital world.
Elective Modules
Introduction to Law
This subject gives you an understanding of legal concepts, their functions, classifications, and basic principles of legal liability. It covers the history, sources, and structure of courts in both the English and Malaysian legal systems, as well as introducing you to legal professions in Malaysia.
Introduction to Psychology
This course offers you the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills and apply psychological principles to everyday life. By the end, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of psychology, enabling you to analyse and comprehend the complexities of human behaviour and mental processes.
Introduction to Finance
This module equips you with the concepts, roles, and principles of financial management in business organisations. You’ll explore financial markets, institutions, and the environment, while learning to perform basic analyses related to the time value of money, financial statements, and capital budgeting for business decisions.
Semester 3
Writing and Research Skills
This subject prepares you for research in the social sciences, helping you develop scientific and academic writing skills, as well as various research methods. You’ll learn to understand and analyze texts, while practicing paraphrasing and summarising techniques.
Thinking Skills
Critical thinking is the process of actively conceiving, applying, analyzing, and evaluating information from various sources to guide belief and action. This course encourages you to reflect on your thinking processes and develop and practice your critical thinking skills.
Entrepreneurship
This module gives you a glimpse into the world of entrepreneurship, where you’ll learn the essential qualities needed to become an entrepreneur and the skills and processes involved in starting an enterprise.
Introduction to Management

Management Accounting
This subject offers you basic knowledge and skills in managerial accounting, including budgeting and costing procedures applicable to business entities. You’ll learn about cost, overhead, cost behaviour, budgets, and variance analysis to perform cost analysis in business organisations.
Introduction to Mass Media and Communication
You will gain an overview of the impact of mass communication on contemporary life and society. It covers the historical evolution of media, the development of new media, and current issues. You’ll learn about mass media channels, advertising, public relations, and their social effects.
