IACT College proudly gathered its final year students to celebrate their achievements at the 2024 Convocation. This special occasion marked the culmination of their hard work and dedication, and among the standout graduates is Elsa Yeow, who was named Valedictorian of the Year.

Graduating with a BA (Hons) Advertising and Design from the University of Sunderland, her success story highlights how IACT's dynamic curriculum and industry connections has helped her achieve her dreams in media and communications. Elsa's exceptional academic performance and unwavering commitment have set her apart, embodying the high standards and supportive environment fostered by IACT, and her journey is a testament to the college's dedication to nurturing talent and excellence.

Elsa's path is marked by resilience, dedication, and active involvement in a range of college clubs that allowed her creative talents and commitment to flourish. She distinguished herself not only through her academic perseverance but also through her vibrant participation in various extracurricular activities.

Elsa made a substantial impact through her active involvement in IACT’s Christian Fellowship, the Performing Arts Club, and the Student Council. Her role in the Christian Fellowship allowed her to foster a deep sense of community and spiritual growth, while her contributions to the Performing Arts Club showcased her creativity and passion for the arts. As a key member of the Student Council, Elsa developed strong leadership skills and played a vital role in advocating for her peers and organising key events. Each of these roles not only supported her personal development but also enhanced her overall college experience, contributing significantly to her academic and personal success. Her engagement in these clubs enriched her college experience, providing her with invaluable opportunities for personal and professional development. These experiences are not just milestones in her journey but cherished aspects of her time here at IACT.

In sharing her journey, Elsa expressed immense gratitude for the friendships she cultivated. She emphasised that the unwavering support and encouragement from her friends played a crucial role in her success, especially during challenging times. “Knowing that they were there to back me up and encourage me, even during my low points during assignments, really helped me".

Looking Ahead

Reflecting on her active involvement in various clubs, Elsa highlighted that one of the most rewarding aspects was getting to know people beyond her immediate class. This broad network of connections has allowed her to form close friendships and expand her social horizons.

“Expanding beyond just knowing people in my class was a huge benefit to me as I have now gotten close to many of my friends,” she remarked.

When asked about her future plans, Elsa shared that her ultimate goal is to excel in whatever career path she chooses. “While it would be nice to have more achievements, I generally want to be the best I can be in my career,” she affirmed, reflecting her desire for continuous self-improvement and excellence.

As she prepares to embark on the next chapter of her life, Elsa offers valuable advice to future students and graduates: “Just have fun.” She believes that studying at IACT is a blessing because it allows students to express themselves in various creative ways. Her encouragement to enjoy the journey and embrace the opportunities for self-expression resonates deeply with the core values of the college.
