About University of Liverpool

Founded in 1881, the University of Liverpool has an impressive history of pioneering education and research, with a particular emphasis on ‘education for the professions’.

The School of Law at the University of Liverpool has a proud tradition of over a century’s experience of inspiring and challenging its students to reach their potential. Eminent scholars have served as staff and former students include judges at all levels, including the now retired Law Lord Donald James Nicholls (Baron Nicholls of Birkenhead) and Lord Birkenhead (Lord Chancellor 1919-1922).

General Information

  • ​​​​​​​​​​The School of Law is located on a traditional campus within walking distance from the Liverpool city centre, renowned for its variety of eateries, historical architecture and cultural venues.
  • The Higher Education Funding Council in England rated the teaching in Liverpool Law School as ‘excellent’, a grade awarded only to a minority of law schools in England.

Interesting Facts

  • 9 Nobel Laureates have been associated with the University including Sir James Chadwick, who discovered the neutron particle.
