BAC & Women of Will: Fostering the Power of Women
“If you educate a man, you educate one person. If you educate a woman, you educate a family (nation)” - Dr. James Emmanuel Kwegyir-Aggrey
On October 22nd 2016, BAC hosted a day-long “Women in Business” entrepreneurship workshop in collaboration with Women of Will (formerly TECH Outreach). This comprehensive workshop was specifically tailored to support single and disadvantaged women who took on the challenge of creating sustainable income for their families through their own entrepreneurial ventures.
“Through our interaction with these women in need, we have learned that they often encounter a variety of challenges when they start and own a small business,” said Susheela Sabaratnam from the Women's Directors Programme, “Our goal is to provide them with the practical information they would need to start a business through these workshops.”
Raja Singham, Managing Director of BAC and Founder of the Make It Right Movement, said “We are trying to do whatever we can for the nation by improving lives through education. In this case, by improving the lives of these women in need, we also improve the lives of their families and their community. As the former Australian Premier Julia Gillard once said ‘Educate women and their community will prosper. Deny them education and the world will suffer’.”
