Celebrating 200 Years of Tamil Education with EduNation’s Tamil Education Project!

October 21st 2016 was a milestone in the history of education in Malaysia as it marked the 200th anniversary of Malaysia’s first Tamil class which was held at the Penang Free School in 1816. As such, it was the perfect occasion for YB Dato’ P. Kamalanathan (Deputy Minister of Education) to launch EduNation’s trailblazing Tamil Education Project for primary school students.

“I am confident the incorporation of technology in the Tamil language will help ignite interest amongst our Indian community, especially our students,” said YB Dato’ Kamalanathan. “Since education is lifelong learning, this platform will be an excellent opportunity for the holistic involvement of students, teachers, parents and even grandparents in guiding their children or grandchildren with their school lessons.”

The Tamil Education Project currently has videos for the Standard 3 Mathematics syllabus and Standard 1 Tamil Language syllabus with plans to complete the rest of the national primary school syllabus by May 2017. With over 4000 videos covering 12 subjects in English, Bahasa Malaysia & Mandarin, EduNation also allows students to download free e-books, complete test papers as well as track their progress on the portal.

“At BAC and EduNation, we believe in the power of education to change lives. Thus, an initiative like EduNation is important to provide access to quality education for all Malaysians,” said Raja Singham, Co-Founder of EduNation and Managing Director of Brickfields Asia College. “Today’s launch of the Tamil content is one more way for us to reach out to students and provide them with the extra support they need to excel in their studies. We hope students from all over Malaysia will join the 100,000 students who are already using EduNation’s portal and reap its benefits.”
