BAC Inter School Futsal Tournament

The Inaugural Brickfields Asia College Inter-Schools (Form 4 & 5) Futsal Competition came to its conclusion at the competition Finale last weekend in Sports Planet Kota Damansara.

Sixteen schools from around the country who had progressed from the four heats, which took place throughout the month of August, competed fiercely for the inaugural trophy and a bumper RM 10,000 payday for their school, with RM 5,000 going to the winning team themselves.

There were thrills and spills throughout the day, with a few red cards thrown in as teams lost their cool, but after thirty hours of futsal throughout the competition, just four teams were left to compete for the prizes. SMK Pendang, who travelled all the way from Kedah and SMK Abdul Jalil, closer to home in KL, both fell at the Semi Final stage, with Pendang convincingly taking third place in the playoffs.

That left SMK Victoria of KL and SMK Guar Perahu of Penang to contest the Final and in a close game the underdogs Victoria almost pulled off a surprise victory, but the experience and fitness of SMK Guar Perahu won through and the team from the North pulled off a deserved win to become the inaugural BAC Inter-Schools Futsal Champions.

The event winners earned RM 10,000 for their school and RM 5,000 for themselves, the runners up received RM 5,000 for their school and RM 2,500 for themselves, with the third and fourth place teams receiving RM 2,500 and RM 1,000 for their schools and RM 1,500 and RM 500 for themselves respectively.

Managing Director of Brickfields Asia College, Mr. Raja Singham was on hand to present the trophy to the winning team and he was delighted with the turnout of this inaugural event, with over 150 teams competing in the tournament. The Final event was held at Sports Planet Kota Damansara and featured special guests Abbas Saad, former Australia International and Astro Supersports pundit alongside comedy Maestro Allan Perera. Both men delighted fans with the chance to pose for photos and sign autographs whilst watching the futsal on display.
