Celebrating the First Step into the Future

It’s always one of the best days of the year when Brickfields Asia College (BAC) students don their gowns and mortar boards to celebrate their graduation.

Graduation is always full of opposites: cheers and solemnity, memories and dreams, youthhood and adulthood, goodbyes and hellos. But on Friday, October 9th 2015, BAC graduates from various universities across the UK all managed to make the special day their own.

Students and their guests began to arrive at the Sime Darby Convention Centre around 12 noon ready for gowning. From then on there was a buzz of anticipation and excitement which mounted as more people arrived, including representatives from BAC’s UK partner universities, lecturers and, of course, family and friends of those graduating.

For many, the event marked the end of several years’ hard work; for others, it was a celebration of the end of college life before their next step into the real world. For most students it was the last time they would be together as a group but all had one thing in common - it was a day to celebrate and a day for feeling proud and sharing happiness - and for some relief - that their hard work had paid off.

The ceremony began with the academic procession comprising the guests of honour and lecturers led by BAC’s Managing Director, Raja Singham. The ceremony began with humorous and inspirational speeches presented by distinguished guests from each of BAC’s partner universities followed by the presentation of scrolls to the graduates.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards which celebrated the academic successes of BAC’s highest achieving students in the following courses; Cambridge A-Levels, UK Transfer Degree Programme (Law), UK Transfer Degree Programme (Business) and the University of London International Programmes (Law).

“We are very proud of our students’ achievements. They have done exceedingly well and are to be congratulated on their hard work and commitment over the past three years” said Raja Singham, BAC’s Managing Director. “I wish to thank all the lecturers and to congratulate all our students who are a credit to themselves, and their parents on this wonderful day.”

Congratulations to our Class of 2015 and a warm welcome to the BAC Alumni Community!
