Laugh for a Good Cause

Watch comedy and share laughter in support of free education for Malaysian school children.

Back by popular demand is Malaysia’s much-loved comedian and philanthropist Allan Perera, who will be performing with more giggles, for charity, in a show sponsored by Brickfields Asia College (BAC). The charity event will be staged at PJ Live Arts in Jaya One from October 6th – 11th.

Get Happy

Each performance will run for a total of 100 minutes. The first half of the show features “A Vinyl Invasion”, which is a “musical”, followed by the wicked, satirical “Malaysia’s Got Scandal”. The audience can look forward to Perera playing whacky Malaysian-inspired characters such as Elvis Tan, Y.B. Wan Bedek Wan Temberang, Saudara Kam Mun Ting and Guitar Joe.

Good to Giggle

Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Edunation, which is a not-for-profit platform supported by BAC. The initiative focuses on developing a freely accessible education system for all. To date, Edunation has produced more than 2,500 learning videos, hundreds of practices and has co-organised syllabus-focused seminars for students from Forms 1 to 5.

“We are expecting to double the number of ‘users’ before the end of this year, from the initial 25,000 to 50,000” said Edunation founder Edmond Yap.

Furthermore, Perera has also started a socially-driven endeavor called the Giggle Challenge. In the same vein of the viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Perera intends to gather videos of “giggles” from social media users.

For every “giggle” video posted on social media, five cents will be donated towards Edunation’s efforts in providing free education for all Malaysian school children.

To be a part of this meaningful and beneficial initiative, remember to hashtag your video with #gigglecharity #edunation and challenge five friends.
