BAC Wins Prestigious Asean Business Award for CSR Excellence!
Brickfields Asia College (BAC) received the Asean Business Awards Malaysia (ABAM) SME Excellence Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on April 24th, 2015. This is the second time that BAC has been honored for being a “good corporate citizen and giving back to the communities.”
The ABAM recognition identifies BAC as having demonstrated an understanding of the links between business operations and society and conducting business in a way that creates long-term economic and social values.
Managing Director, Mr. Raja Singham, said; “It is fantastic to receive this award as we (BAC) believe that education should be accessible to all and that it should be administered to serve the wider community. It’s a fantastic endorsement from the Asean Business Advisory Council – Malaysia Chapter.”
BAC has contributed towards developing sustainable educational programmes such as EduNation; a web-based platform that provides free tuition for secondary school children in Malaysia. To date, BAC has advanced over RM 2 million towards EduNation’s operating expenses. At the moment EduNation hosts more than 1800 academic videos for secondary school students. EduNation now boasts of over six million minutes of viewership on its YouTube channel.
BAC’s charity arm, BAC Gives Back is involved in numerous education-based CSR initiatives dedicated to enhancing the livelihood of women, children, the underprivileged and the disabled. BAC Gives Back, in collaboration with TECH Outreach Malaysia, has conducted a series of entrepreneurship workshops for single mothers which enables them to be eligible for jump-start interest-free loans for their individual business ventures. BAC Gives Back also works with the Malaysian Lysosomal Diseases Association, the United Nations Malaysia Country Team, Women’s Aid Organisation in addition to routinely supporting various orphanages and homes to provide basic necessities.
